About us . . .
My name is Michelle and I’m happily married with two kids – Lily & Riley. My husband, Neil, and I moved to Canberra about 13 years ago and just love it. My husband Neil is an ex photographer, so is a great help when taking an editing pictures. He also helps a lot with design ideas and fabric choices. I started my Miss Poppitt business when Lily was about six months old. I first started making baby shoes then progressed into dolls, clothing, bunting and pin cushions. Most of my spare time, especially weekends, is spent trying to fit in sewing time. |
Inspiration . . .
My inspiration comes from everywhere. Sometimes I’ll have an idea from a conversation with my kids or fabrics I find. Lately the ideas come from my daughter – some are great and others a bit strange. There is a lot of time spent on the items I make. Dolls can take upwards of eight hours, pin cushions can take over 10 hours as they are all one of a kind. One of the best things I ever made was a pin cushion of Alice falling down the rabbit hole. I had the idea and it just all came together really easily. My next favourite would be the dolly carriers and new mermaid dolls. I have so many ideas in my head, but sadly not enough time. |
